red snapper
spot it: pink to red all over, whitish belly, long triangular snout, anal fin sharply pointed
similar catch: vermilion snapper, R. aurorubens
fish it: way out in the continental shelf; bountiful in south and middle Florida
scale it: up to 20 pounds
boat banter: the young ones are often near sandy or mud bottoms, and are often caught in shrimp trawls; the older ones can dodge tight lines for more than 20 years, and get as tastey as 35 pounds
that's nothing like me - though, sadly so
experience life with an avid fisherman; you'll appreciate the shortcoming
. . .someth'n of wide water, weighty line, gentle nibbles and masterful tug . . .
let's just admit it: a woman, no woman is equal to 'that' catch. . .
women are 'a' catch, but lose the intrigue after the pocket knife slices her line from the pole, after she is packed precisely with ice, and most certainly after he gets her home
meanwhile, these creatures - whose voice is and never will be heard; these creatures - whose personality extends no further than the amount of water-less breaths it insists upon; these creatures - who require no expansion of mental skill of conquer to conquer, remain the boasted 'catch' discussion for men-lives
and, so
what can a woman learn from these creatures. not just red snappers, all fish. what can a woman learn from these worm-, shrimp-, cricket-, corn-hooked creatures . . .
be his latest, greatest catch, perhaps . . .but how do you get the new-ness of the catch to last forever . . .doesn't seem likely
ok, well, possibly:
shelve the deep fryer for longer periods of time - you can't be 'that' catch
you can loosen your line in his hand, and allow him to think he reels you in
besides, this cooks down to boat banter - give him something to boast about
